During the twientieth century, the Haṭhapradīpikā was an iconic text on Haṭhayoga but has this always been the case? This paper will discuss the recepton history of this work in the early modern period in an attempt to assess its role in the history of Haṭhayoga, as well as its influence on yoga and Indian literature more broadly. The paper will conclude by considering how the text of the Haṭhapradīpikā changed to reflect shifting trends in yoga during this period.
