Yoga Practitioners in Finland

As part of the Research Council of Finland and Polin Institute funded project In the Middle and in the Margins: Yoga Practitioners in Finland, we created an extensive web survey that was widely distributed among yogis in Finland, with close to eight hundred respondents between June 2024 and May 2025. In this paper, I will report on some of the findings of this survey, offering important knowledge on the demographics, yoga styles, political leanings and values of yogis in one European country of today. Our findings will both confirm earlier studies (e.g., those of Newcombe) and offer interesting new perspectives and avenues for further studies.
